This is a butler, which is a sort of rack that holds a jacket and pants, and has a little bowl to hold a watch and change. "Lift" is intended to keep the results of undressing off the floor. (This can be an issue for some people.)
Just as the traditional boat builders and carpenters in Norway obtain their curved wood sections by finding the natural curves grown in the trees themselves, the wood for "Lift" was selected and chain sawn directly from the standing trees in a pear orchard that was being removed. The existing curves of the wood helped to direct the design, and salvaging beautiful wood that would otherwise have been burned makes it a doubly uplifting piece.
